Agent: De Gea’s Future At Manchester United Not Guaranteed

David De Geaa s future at Manchester United has been put under the scanner once again, after the playera s agent Jorge Mendes proclaimed that things changed direction very quickly in a game like football.

The young shot-stopper has had a brilliant season for Louis van Gaala s side so far. His stint between the posts has attracted the attention of Spanish giants Real Madrid, who seem to be keen on bringing the 24-year-old to Santiago Bernabeu as a replacement for Iker Casillas in the near future.

The Spanish international is contract bound at the Old Trafford for another 18 months, and rumours suggested that the English club had offered a new contract to the player, but these were later denied by Spanish daily Marca.

But with the talks of a new deal on the horizon, Mendes, in a possible attempt of putting Manchester United under pressure, further fuelled the speculation of a possible return to La Liga by suggesting that De Geaa s long-term future in England wasna t guaranteed.

a David is amazing, he’s brilliant,” the Portuguese agent was quoted as saying by ESPN via Marca.

a He’s a Man United player and has a contract there. You have to respect that, but things change every five minutes.a

Despite the growing interest from Madrid, Van Gaal is confident that De Gea , who has been a key figure in the United line-up since his move from Atletico Madrid in 2011, will resist any offer of joining Carlo Ancelottia s outfit next summer, and will sign a contract extension with the Red Devils.

a David de Gea has developed himself in the six months that I’ve been here very much. I’m very pleased with his developmenta , the Dutch manager said a few days back.

a I think there is no problem for him to sign.

a When you are a (regular) player, then probably you are the best, and then the manager is very happy that a player that is fixed in the lineup will staya , he further added.

Even though Victor Valdes has been added to the ranks at United, the club has made it pretty clear that they have signed the former Barcelona man in the capacity of De Geaa s back-up only.
