West Bromwich Albion Looking For Tim Sherwood To Occupy Their Managerial Hotseat

West Bromwich Albion have identified Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood, Former Norwich City manager Chris Houghton and Fromer Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay as the candidates to replace Pepe Mel at the Hawthorns.

West Bromwich Albion fired their Spanish manager Pepe Mel after his disastrous spell in charge at the Hawthorns on Monday. Pepe Mel who replaced former Chelsea Assistant manager Steve Clarke at West Bromwich Albion, was expected to take the club to a top half finish but he failed miserably, as the club fought off relegation towards the end of season to secure their Premier League status.

Pepe Mel’s regime lasted only four months as the players failed to understand his tactics and the results dried up at the Hawthorns. WBA players were not receptive to the idea of a computer analyst teaching them football and it eventually paved the way for his exit. The lack of results and fighting spirit in the team was evident as the team laboured in the second half of the season under the Spaniard’s guidance.

WBA made an ambitious attempt to convince Former Manchester United and Everton boss David Moyes as their new manager, but he hasn’t shown any interests forcing the management to look for other options. Currently their shortlist includes soon to be fired Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood, Ex-Norwich City boss Chris Houghton and Ex-Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay.

Tim Sherwood has a glowing reputation even though he is expected to make way at Tottenham Hotspur. His tenure as the Technical Director saw the club produce some outstanding talents, and his youth development policies stood out even after taking charge as the senior team manager. The progress made by youngsters Ezekiel Fryers, Nabil Bentaleb, Harry Kane and others can be attributed to the reign of Tim Sherwood.

It is not just youth development that Tim Sherwood has shown at White Hart Lane. His tenure as a manager produced more than 60% wins in Premier League and it is the highest among all the managers who occupied the hot-seat at White Hart Lane during the Premier League era.

With his growing reputation and instant impact, few clubs are lining up the possibility of bringing the young British manager on board. Championship side Brighton are rumored to be one of his admirers while West Bromwich Albion might find themselves ahead of the queue if Tim Sherwood becomes available this summer. If given a longer run and good support by the management, Tim Sherwood can weave his magic at a club and that is one of the reasons why West Bromwich Albion have identified the Tottenham manager as their primary target.
