We Want To Pay Respect To The FA Cup – Rodgers | Liverpool v Bournemouth Highlights

Liverpool FC cruised through to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a comfortable win over Championship outfit Bournemouth.

Brendan Rodgers selected a strong line-up for this game as he looked to avoid a repeat of the fourth-round exit last season from this competition, and his men lived up to the task on hand. Bournemouth did have some good moments in the first half and their two penalty appeals were turned down by the referee. But a moment of Brilliance from on loan Chelsea winger Victor Moses provided the away side the lead in the 27^th minute of the match. Luis Suarez picked out Moses with a cross from the right and the 23-year-oldai??i??s low shot at the near post was good enough to beat Lee Camp in goal.

Liverpool had to wait till the 60^th minute to put the game to bed as Daniel Sturridge got on the score sheet. Luis Suarez was once again the man who made the difference and this time he set up the England international with a lovely through ball. While England manager Roy Hodgson, who was watching from the stands, would have been pleased by Sturridgeai??i??s goal, Suarezai??i??s performance would have also provided a glimpse of what awaits his side in the World Cup.

Brendan Rodgers insisted that injuries and his respect for this tournament was reflected on the strong team he selected for this game.

“We are a very thin squad and we have a number of injuries.

Rodgers was also full of praise for Bournemouth and their young manager Eddie Howe, who displayed wonderful spirit and effort in this game.

“When you have a team that want to play football, they are the most courageous players on the field.

“It is easy to coach a team to sit back, not want the ball and defend and then just wait for a hump up the pitch.

“The courage that the Bournemouth players showed today was fantastic – they have got better, I have watched them as the season has gone on.

“It is coaches like Eddie Howe who will take the game forward in this country because they believe in a way of working and they have a philosophy.

“Bournemouth are a very good side and I give credit to them first of all. Eddie is similar to myself in terms of the philosophy of football.
