Manchester United have confirmed the departure of David Moyes today. The former Everton manager who succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson at the helm of the club at the start of this season, had big boots to fill and immense expectations to shoulder. But the Scotsman has struggled to leave during his time in charge and the reigning Premier League champions are now left to fight for an Europa League spot in the league table. David Moyes has broken some unwanted record this season and although most would have accepted transitional phase after Sir Alex’s departure, the fact that his side showed no improvement in performances on the field turned most of the supporters against him.

They were already knocked out of all the cup competitions and the shambolic defeat at the hands of Everton at the weekend seemed to be the final nail in coffin. Roberto Martinez, in his first season with Everton, has taken a side mostly built by David Moyes and has transformed them into a formidable unit. The double the Everton this season over Manchester United, was more of a personal defeat for David Moyes than anything else.

Speculations were rife about his future of the club after the defeat at Merseyside and now the Red Devils have confirmed his departure from Old Trafford with immediate effect.
