Ligue 1 outfit, AS Monaco are setting their sights on one of their former players to add more goals to their tally. Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor is identified as a summer transfer target by the french club to bolster their attacking ranks.
30-year old Emmanuel Adebayor is a vastly experienced striker who played for some of the top clubs across Europe. Adebayor’s stints at FC Metz, AS Monaco, Arsenal, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur has produced the goals and the Monaco based side is planning to bring him back to take the fight to Ligue 1 champions PSG next season.
Emanuel Adebayor had previously played for AS Monaco from 2003 to 2006. The three year spell saw the striker scoring 18 goals from 78 games as English Premier League side Arsenal came calling for his signature. Adebayor set the Premier League ablaze by scoring 24 goals in 2007-08 season, and the moneybags Manchester City came calling for his signature a year after. After a bright start with Manchester City where he scored 14 goals, Togo forward found it difficult to get going. He opted for loan moves to Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur before securing a permanent move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Adebayor has been regarded as a tall, skillful striker who has the ability to create and score when in form. But the biggest problem with the player is his lack of consistency and his poor attitude. Adebayor can be termed as a one season striker for almost all the clubs he played, as he hasn’t justified his price tag or wages in the rest of the years. When Adebayor is hungry, he is one of the best strikers in the League, but when he is sulky, he is a mere passenger on the squad who is a liability with his enormous wages.
Adebayor started brilliantly with Tottenham Hotspur by registering double digits in the goals and assists chart in 2011-12 season, but since then he failed to reproduce those performances under Andre Villas Boas and soon fell out with the manager. After the sacking of Andre Villas Boas, it was Tim Sherwood who reintegrated the Togo striker back to the fold and Adebayor ended up as the Top scorer for Tottenham Hotspur in 2013-14 season. But the sacking of Tim Sherwood and the inconsistency of Emmanuel Adebayor puts his future in jeopardy.
Emmanuel Adebayor might go back to his lazy nature if the new manager’s ideologies doesn’t suit with the striker.
