Tottenham have announced that summer signingAi??DeAndre Yedlin will join the club in January after spending the last six months on loan atAi??Seattle Sounders.
The right back was signed for fee of A?2.4m and pennedAi??a four-year deal in August before being sent back on loan to Seattle. ManagerAi??Mauricio Pochettino said, “DeAndre is a young player with great potential who has already achieved a lot in Major League Soccer.
“It is important for his development that he is given the time to adapt to his new surroundings both on and off the pitch and we believe that by coming to us in January it will give him the best opportunity to do so.”
Yedlin has had an impressive few years in the MLS after picking up theAi??US Soccer Young Male Athlete of the Year award and making the MLS all-star team two times in a row. The youngster also appeared for the United States in the World Cup and impressed. He was expected to join Tottenham at the start of the 2015 season, but will do so now after receiving his work permit.
Yedlin is a fast and versatile player who can play as a right back or a right-sided midfielder. He made 27 appearances in the MLS and managed to score a goal in the playoffs.
The 21-year old will fancy his chances of getting into the first team straight away as Kyle Naughton and Eric Dier haven’t been consistent enough for Tottenham this season and Kyle Walker has missed most of the games due to an injury.
Alex Pritchard wants to extend his stay at Brentford
On-loan Tottenham midfielder Alex Pritchard could stay at Brentford until the end of the season after admitting that he wants to play regular Ai??football. Pritchard has made 22 appearances for the Championship side this season and has scored four goals in the process.
The attacking midfielder said,Ai??”I want to stay at Brentford. It’s good for me being here playing regular football.
“I’m only 21, so to be playing week in, week out at a team third in the Championship is not bad going.
“I have seen all the speculation but I know myself what’s true and what isn’t. I don’t really listen to it and just try to focus on my football.”
Despite his wishes, the England u21 international could be recalled as the likes ofAi??QPR, Burnley and West Brom are considering a move for him.
