Tottenham are ready to battle Italian biggies Juventus for the signature of, Croatia international Sime Vrsaljko, according to reports in Italy.
The 22 year old has been linked with a move to the Serie A giants as it has been brought to the fore on several occasions that Juventus were going to make a move for the player in January as they look to get a cover for the injured Kwadwo Asamoah and also veteran Patrice Evra. Juventus look to face a battle as English Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur also look interested in his services. Ai??but Spurs are also keen to bring the 22-year-old to north London.
The Croatian international is very versatile. His primary position is at right back, but he can play on the left side, as a left back, and further up in the midfield. At Dinamo Zagreb, he was namedAi??Croatian Football Hope of the Year in 2010, when he was 18 years old. In 2013, he joinedAi??2013 Italian Serie A side Genoa and became an integral part of the side, regularly featuring as the right back. He missed the end games with injury. After just one season with the Genoa,Ai??Vrsaljko signed for Serie A side Sassuolo in July this year. After just months with his present club, the Croat is being linked with high-profile moves again andAi??Tuttomercatoweb.com claim that Vrsaljko could be available for around A?3m next month.
Juventus were leading the race for the young defender, but it has now been reported that Spurs boss, Mauricio Pochettino has sent scouts to watch Vrsaljko and could be inclined to make a bid for him in January.
It would be interesting to see if a battle for the player occurs in the winter. It was reported by Italian media outlets that Juventus were willing to wait till the end of the season to make a move for Vrsaljko.Ai??TheAi??BianconeriAi??directors apparently held informal talks with Sassuolo earlier this month, in order to try and sort out a potential deal for the 22 year old. Sassuolo told the Serie A leaders that they do not wish to lose one of their most important players in the middle of the season. The two clubs enjoy a good relationship and it is believed that Juventus agreed to hold out until the summer before they make a concrete move.
But with Spurs apparently being keen on the player and wanting to bring him to White Hart Lane as early as January, it can be expected that Juventus would engage in a bidding war with the Premier League side and try to win the battle for the 22 year old versatile fullback.
It remains to be seen whether Vrsaljko would prefer to stay in Italy rather than move to the Premier League. Sassuolo wouldn’t want to lose a player they brought in just months back, and a deal this winter looks unlikely for both Juventus or Spurs. We might see the battle rejuvunate over next summer.
