Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverly has been subject to a lot of criticisms in the recent past with his performance being put under the radar repeatedly.
Many have argued that the 24 year has not been able to perform at a consistent level to be kept in the United side with even an online petition going on to keep him out of Roy Hodgonai??i??s England squad for the FIFA World Cup.
But it seems that ultimately times are changing for Cleverly as Manchester United are reportedly planning to offer a new five year contract to Cleverly, whose current contract with the club end in 2015. Sources reveal that United boss David Moyes is keen to offer a contract worth A?15 million to Cleverly.
Cleverlyai??i??s performance has not been something to cheer about for the United fans with the central midfielder scoring just a single goal this season. Alongside that, he has no assists behind his name to show and this has drawn a lot of irk from different quarters.
Making his club debut in 2009, Cleverly has so far played 44 league games for his club and been part of the side which won the Premier League last season. He has also enjoyed loan spells at Lecister, Watford and Wigan, with the latest one being in the 2010-11 season.
David Moyes would be having a busy summer ahead of him with the team requiring a lot of reinforcements in different areas of the pitch.
United captain Nemanja Vidic has already decided to join Inter Milan and Moyes would be requiring a replacement soon. So far he has identified Arsenal player Thomas Vermaelen as an apt player, suitable to fill the void created by Vidic.
Thomas Vermaelen and Robin Van Persie share the same agent and United camp believe that it would make the deal easier for them after they successfully roped in the Dutchman from Arsene Wengerai??i??s side two seasons ago.
Arsenal on the other hand, would not like to let Vermaelen go for anything less than A?12 million and given the reduced stature of the Belgian in the club, that money should seal the deal.
After a disastrous first season in charge of United, David Moyes would like to have a productive transfer market and add some flair and creativity in the midfield to stay in touch with the top clubs.
