The end of the premier league nears and a nail biting finish is definitely in store for fans. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City rub shoulders for the coveted title as the champions Manchester United Struggle at 7th place. However there is a second battle that has taken the back seat, which is the relegation battle.
With just one or two points separating the bottom quarter of the table, every single match ahead is a crucial one. Although just a 25 year old, the greek international has made a name for himself scoring 41 goals in 86 appearances for his former club Olympiacos. It is only a matter of time till the two gel well and establish a striker play-maker partnership. The Craven Cottege manager incharge has stated that his club has what it takes to be in the premier league, but only the end of the season will reveal if what he says is true.
Cardiff City
Cardiff has just returned home from a loss at white hart lane and things cannot get worse. The baby faced killer (Oleai??i?? Gunaar Solekjaer) being appointed as the new manager hasnai??i??t yet yielded fruit for the welsh club. In their last 5 games they have won one, lost three and drawn one. Having used a very unconventional 5-3-2 formation, the club had balance and a good counter attacking plan but couldnai??i??t find the back of the net. However with this new found weapon, Solekjaer could just turn his fortunes and return to winning ways. They face bottom of the league Fulham FC at home and from their league position they are expected to win comfortably. Of their remaining games a tough set of fixtures lie ahead against the Mersyside duo Everton and Liverpool and a game against Southhampton and not to forget a cruicial relegation game against West Bromwich Albion.
Sunderland
With just one point separating them from the safe zone, Sunderland need the victory over West Brom to leap frog them to the 17th spot and ensure they stay in the premier league. However their match being postponed we will have to wait to watch this head to head battle. The team has recently picked up their performance having won three and lost two of their five premier league games played. However, Fabio Boriniai??i??s sensational form hasnai??i??t ensured the teams escape from the drop zone. With a loss in the Capital One cup final against Manchester City after having a lead for most of the match, the team would be ready to seek revenge so that they ensure they stay in the Premier League.
West Bromwich Albion
West Brom have lost two and drawn three in the last five they have played. The presence of veteran striker Nichloas Anelka hasnai??i??t had any real impact as he has scored only two from his 11 appearances for the team. Their match against Sunderland had been postponed and this one would be a cruicial one for the team as a loss would send them down to the relegation zone. Having drawn 3 and lost 2 in their previous 5 matches, two draws have been useful as they have been against bigger stronger teams such as Chelsea and Liverpool. Their next game is at home against the struggling Manchester United. A victory against the defending champions will boost their morale and ensure they somehow salvage points and do not get relegated. Crystal Palace
The team is the most fortunate of the five as they are safely nestled at the 16th spot. But with just two points separating the team after it, a loss could mean West Brom would be ahead of them.Ai?? In their last five games they have celebrated two victories and drawn twice and lost once. However their fixtures ahead look a bit gloomy as they have to face Manchested City, Chelsea and Liverpool. Hence Crystal Palace must ensure all other games are comfortably won and the games against the top teams are good games and ending with a victory or at least draw if it wishes to play another year in the Premier League.
