Swapping Januzaj And Kagawa Did The Trick – Moyes | Manchester United v Swansea City Highlights

Manchester United returned to winning ways as Adnan Januzaj shined against Swansea City.

Manchester United came into this game on the back of three defeats in a row and needed a win desperately to avoid losing four on a trot for the first time since 1961. With this win United have now distanced themselves from Newcastle United, who will face Manchester City later today. There were concerns about the side who have lacked goals in recent times with both Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney out injured, but Welbeck and Valencia delivered on the night for the home side.

Swansea for their part have failed to repeat the result they achieved against United in the FA Cup and have now only one of their last nine games. The Welsh side are currently 13^th in the table and are now just three points ahead of the relegation zone. Michael Laudrup will need to turn things around quickly or they can find themselves dragged in the relegation dog fight this season.

It was a very cagey first half performance from the home side as the players seemingly felt the pressure of expectation. In fact Swansea looked the better of the two sides in possession, although United had the more clear cut chances. Finally in the second half Antonio Valencia provided the lead as he scored his second goal of the Premier League campaign so far. The goal was created from a fine cross by Adnan Januzaj from the left. The ball reached Kagawa at the far post and his header was saved by Gerhard Tremmel, but unluckily for him the rebound reached Valencia and the winger buried it into the back of the net.

It took only 12 minutes for Manchester United to double their lead and this time again Januzaj was at the heart of some good work down the right. His cross was initially headed away, but Evraai??i??s miscued shot reached Welbeck, who directed it towards goal with a neat flick. This goal provided a fairly comfortable win for the home side in the end.

David Moyes was delighted with his win and felt that his side deserved this with their performance.

“We thought we played well. We started well but didn’t do enough to get enough goals. Danny had a great chance to make it 1-0 early on but didn’t.

“We limited them to a few opportunities and we got the result we deserved.” ai??i?? The Manchester United manager said.

Manchester Unitedai??i??s fortunes turned around after Moyes swapped Januzaj and Kagawa and the duo had a wonderful influence in the final third.

“We moved Januzaj wide and I thought that worked much better especially with Shinji off the front man.

“Adnan is really earning his start at the moment.

“We also had to work harder and make more chances. They went about their business really well.

“Quite often recently we’ve been missing that bit of luck to get someone on the end of chances but today we had it.

“Welbeck looked better in the second half too and was a threat. He could have scored in the first half but I am delighted he got his goal and we should have scored more through Chris Smalling and Kagawa but we’ll maybe keep the goals for later in the season.” ai??i?? Moyes added.
