Uruguayai??i??s star striker Luis Suarez will not take part in the friendly against Chile on Tuesday and has been sent home, according to the coach Oscar Tabarez.
Suarez started the game against Costa Rica, which ended in a 3-3 draw, but agreed with the coach to return to Barcelona considering that he wouldnai??i??t be eligible to play in the Copa America.
“We all know what Luis means to us, but we also know that we won’t have him for the Copa America, so it’s good to look at alternatives for playing without him,” said Uruguay captain Diego Godin.
Tabarez said, ai???I have many ideas about how to substitute him. Luis has come along to have contact with the national team because he will rejoin us once he serves his ban, but he will not start against Chile.ai???
As is already known, Suarez was banned for 9 international games and so wouldnai??i??t be eligible to participate in the Copa America to be played next June. By learning to play without Suarez, Uruguay would be able to cope without the starai??i??s absence in the tournament. The ban came after Suarez was once again involved in a biting incident, and with the added scrutiny of the World press, FIFA took a strong stand against the incident.
In other news, Barcelonaai??i??s Rafinha has also come back home, but this one is because of a thigh injury. The youngster was with Brazilai??i??s U-21 team in China, where the coach is deciding who all get to play in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
However, because of the injury sustained, he will miss matches that he was scheduled to play against Australia, South Korea and China.
Rafinha has already undergone tests and the club doctors diagnosed it as ai???a slight elongation of the sartoriusAi??muscle of the right legai???. It is not yet known how long he will be out, but it will definitely be a blow to both player and club.var
