Manchester United target William Carvalho Will be allowed to leave for A?37million, Augusto Ignacio, director of Sporting Lisbon, has hinted.
Louis van Gaal is looking to completely overhaul the Manchester United squad this summer after the Red Devils endured a disappointing season under his predecessor David Moyes. The English club has already signed Luke Shaw from Southampton and Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao, but they are set to continue this spending spree with van Gaal targeting one more midfielder in this transfer window.
Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since last summer, but United were unwilling to meet the Portuguese clubai??i??s evaluation of the 22-year-old.
Carvalho, who was promoted to the first team in 2011, and he has grown in stature as a player ever since. He made 29 appearances in the league last season and produced consistent performances as Sporting finished second behind Porto.
A lot of European clubs have been monitoring his progress for the last two seasons and both Chelsea and Manchester United have scouted him regularly. Carvalho reportedly has A?37m buy-out clause in his contract, which runs till 2018 and Sporting are unwilling to settle for anything less than that.
Sporting director Augusto Ignacio has now revealed that the club is willing to sell Carvalho if interested clubs match the buy-out clause with their bids.

The stiff asking price is a bit over the top, but United are more concerned about securing their targets ahead of next season. A midfield of Carvalho and Herrera can work well for Louis van Gaal as the former Athletic Bilbao midfielder is more comfortable playing alongside a defensive midfielder, like he did at Bilbao with Ander Iturraspe.
