Brendan Rodgers has stressed on the importance of Kolo Toure in the squad as reports suggest that Liverpool FC have rejected Trabzonspor’s bid for the defender.
Kolo Toureai??i??s future at the club has come under a lot of speculation this summer, but Liverpool have reportedly turned down a big from Turkish club Trabzonspor for the former Arsenal center back. Brendan Rodgers has stressed on the importance of having the experience of Kolo Toure in the squad for the club.
The 33-year-old joined Liverpool last summer for free after Manchester City released him from their squad. The former Arsenal defender made 20 appearances in the Premier League for the Reds as finished second behind Manchester City in the title race.
Following the arrival of Dejan Lovren, Toureai??i??s future at the club has come under lot of speculation with reports suggest that Liverpool could offload Toure, who has one year left in his current contract. But the Merseyside club has turned down a bid from Turkish for the Ivory Coast international as Brendan Rodgers still sees him as an integral part of the squad.
Rodgers stressed on the importance of Toure in the squad and praised his efforts in training.
“Kolo has been an incredible player. We brought him in because he is a winner, an authentic winner.
“He’s someone who doesn’t play every single week but when he does play, he plays very well. Every day of his life in training, he gives his all.
“Players like Kolo and Steven Gerrard, the older statesmen of the team, have been absolutely first class. We’re hungry and ambitious; we went close last year.
“That inspires us and gives us great motivation to go on this year. That is the beauty of this group of players – it’s a very hungry group because that’s what we’re trying to bring in.” ai??i?? The Liverpool manager said in an interview.
Future of Daniel Agger at Anfield has also come under speculation with both Barcelona and Arsenal being linked with a move for the center back. Arrival of Lovren means Rodgers is likely to pair him with Martin Skrtel at the center of the defence and reports suggest that Agger could look to leave to gain regular first team action elsewhere.
