Inter Milan’s newly appointed boss Roberto Mancini has aimed his eyes to sign Liverpool captain and talisman Steven Gerrard. Inter Milan could mount a move for Gerrard in January, unless the Liverpool captain agrees a new deal which allows him to stay at Anfield.
Gerrard has also a number of options to consider, as the 34 year old runs out of contract next year. Gerrard is also linked to USA’s Major League Soccer team New York Cosmos. But according to the Football Grapevine, a move to Italian powerhouses Inter Milan could be a lucrative deal for the Englishman.
Steven Gerrard has been at the thick of transfer rumors ever since Liverpool failed to renew his contract. The 34 year old could most likely leave Anfield as his performances have been uncanny recently.
While Liverpool struggle at the bottom half of the table, Steven Gerrard’s loss in January could be pivotal for them as they could slip even further down the table, if their team lacks leaders.
Liverpool have already displayed patchy performances and have struggled in the Champions League too. The misfiring Mario Balotelli is another failed signing of Brendan Rodgers, as Rodgers decided to splash money, in order to make talent lost in form of Luis Suarez.
Liverpool and Inter Milan are almost facing similar fates, as Inter Milan reel at ninth with just sixteen points. Given the disappointing performances the nerazzuri produced, the Inter hierarchy decided to sack Walter Mazzari and appoint Roberto Mancini.
Although Inter has embarked on creating a team around young talent, a certain Steven Gerrard would certainly add to Inter’s quality and lack of experience.
Inter Milan have already signed experience in the form of Nemanja Vidic and Steven Gerrard, next could help the nerazzuri construct talent amongst safe pillars.
Meanwhile, this switch for Steven Gerrard could prove to work wonders. Gerrard, who is a Liverpool man through and through would not only ply his trade for any other club in England but would also go on to join one of the respected clubs in the world in Inter Milan.
Inter could re-energise their ailing midfield with the skill, acumen and experience of Gerrard. Although, this move looks likely to happen, Liverpool are expected to drop in a deal and renew Gerrard’s contract.
