Real Madrid have been linked with Luis Suarez and the departure of Karim Benzema. Which of these deals will materialize for Real Madrid in the transfer window?
The La Liga title is out of reach now and hence Real Madrid will have all their attention on winning the La Decima. However, the summer transfer window looms large and although one might argue that the squad does not need reinforcements, comings and goings in this merry-go-round have a sneaky little habit of surprising all. In every transfer window, Real Madrid and Barcelona get linked to a host of players. The upcoming transfer window promises to be no different. The Copa del Rey has already been won. The La Liga may be out of sight but the Los Blancos could still win the UEFA Champions League by beating their cross town rivals Atletico Madrid. Whether this happens or not, there is bound to be a series of incomings and outgoings through the Real Madrid revolving club door.
The last seasonai??i??s summer transfer window saw high profile additions of Gareth Bale, Dani Carvajal, Isco and Illaramendi. One big name that left the club was Mesut Ozil. It beggars belief that Real Madrid always seems to find space for players. Although we wonai??i??t see outrageous moves for Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Iker Casillas or Sergio Ramos but there may be a few arrivals and departures at Real Madrid before the new season commences. Luis Suarez
The Uruguayan has had a terrific season with Liverpool. He won the Golden Boot by scoring 31 goals in the season and also scooped the Premier League player of the year. However, he missed out on the one trophy that Liverpool would have so dearly wanted, the Premier League title. Luis Suarez broke down into tears at the end of their match with Crystal Palace which effectively wrecked their title ambitions.
He was a subject of transfer speculation last summer as well and his performances have only raised his stock further. There have been rumors of Real Madrid offering around 60-70 Million for the star striker and even talks of Barcelona sniffing around. Liverpool rebuffed a lot of approaches last year and will continue to hold that stance again. But the word is if Real Madrid comes in with a huge figure as mentioned above, the Reds may decide to part with their star striker. The prospect of Suarez in the front line of an already heavyweight lineup is indeed mouthwatering.
Karim Benzema
He might not have had as prolific a season as Suarez but he has scored some important goals for Real Madrid. Benzema still remains a goal scoring threat and a striker that you could really bank on to put the finishing touch to a finely crafted move. Real Madrid have an abundance of riches in attacking talent. Ronaldo, Bale, Di Maria make formidable forward line. Add Benzema to the mix and you have a lethal combination of winger and strikers. Add to this, the club has young and prolific striking talents in Morata and Jese. Benzema may not be surplus to requirements but then at Real Madrid, no one can take their place in the squad for granted.
It is quite difficult to see a move away for Karim Benzema in the upcoming transfer window but he was linked with Arsenal last season and the same speculation surrounds him this time around too. The only possibility where the move could materialize is, if Real Madrid swoop for Luis Suarez. It could spark a transfer merry go round of strikers with Liverpool too entering the market for a star striker. The prospect of linking up with old pal Mesut Ozil may not be such a huge factor to influence his decision but then stranger things have happened in football.
Zinedine Zidane
How Real Madrid would love to see him don the all white kit again! He has been positive influence on the team and has been more than a helping hand to Carlo Ancelotti and hence it is no doubt very unlikely that he will leave the coaching staff of the team that he holds close to his heart but the opportunity to manage a club like Juventus might tempt him to leave the assistant managers position at Real Madrid. Zidane played for the Turin club and is rumored to be one of the names who are said to be in the frame to take over Antonio Conte.
The sheer number of players linked with Real Madrid would make it impossible to cover them in a single write up but there will be some departures and arrivals before the new season begins. They do not need to do a squad overhaul but a couple of fresh faces would do them just good.
