Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is confident that his side is going to win the much coveted La Decima this year.
The 29 year old is also keen to increase his Champions League goal tally in the final against arch rivals Atletico Madrid – but stressed that the trophy itself is more important than anything. Ronaldo has already broken Lionel Messi’s record of 14 goals in one year this season. And now, CR7 ready to add to his remarkable goal scoring record in the final in Lisbon final.
Ronaldo said: “We are up against a great team in the final. Finals are always 50/50, and we know that we are facing a very strong team. We’re hoping to have a great night and to win”.
Ronaldo also went on to praise the depth of Spanish league, claiming the fact that three Spanish teams out of four in Europeai??i??s elite competitions proves the quality of this league.
“AtlAi??tico are a fantastic team, they are top of the league and that says a lot. It’s brilliant to have two Spanish teams in the final, it shows how strong the Spanish league is – with Sevilla in the final of the Europa League too”.
Ronaldo said he feels proud of scoring goals and breaking records. “The goal record is good, I beat it but now that’s done and dusted. I want to score more goals each year. I’m proud of it. I want to score in the final but I don’t mind if it’s one of my teammates that does it, because what I want is to win. I’m confident we’ll win the final.”
Real Madrid are almost out of the title race of La Liga but Ronaldo is optimistic about his sidesai??i?? chances of winning the title. “Nothing is impossible. We’re going to keep on fighting for ‘la Liga’ and, we’ve also already won the Copa del Rey. If you had told me I’d be in the position I am at the start of the season, I would have been more than happy”.
Ronaldo concluded his interview by giving his opinion about the upcoming World Cup in Brazil. He said that Spain and Brazil are the favorites to win the competition. “They are all favourites in my opinion. For me, Spain and Brazil are the overall favourites, but it’s a competition between all the strongest teams in the world”.
Meanwhile, it is not clear yet whether Ronaldo will be able to play in the final. Ronaldo had to be substituted after just eight minutes of Madridai??i??s 1-1 draw after suffering a hamstring injury.
The 29-year-old was pictured clutching his left leg in training on Tuesday at Valdebades but coach Carlo Ancelotti decided to risk him for the La Liga clash even with the showpiece European final looming.
