The ill-fated David Moyes era finally came to an end as the axe fell on the beleaguered Scotsman. It wasn’t unexpected as Moyes had failed, perhaps, all season end expectations. Some would have given him another transfer window and possibly another season to build his own team, but most agreed that there weren’t any apparent signs of progress and the call needed to be made. David Moyes will come back to the game; he will succeed again but unfortunately not as a Manchester United manager. At Manchester United, Moyes will forever be remembered as the man who succeeded Sir Alex but failed.
Nevertheless, something else failed at the club, it wasn’t only Moyes. Yes, the players for one didn’t cover themselves in glory and should be held responsible. But more importantly the club as a whole failed the process of appointing the right manager with the required credentials. Unitedai??i??s biggest mistake was trying to artificially replicate a scenario similar to Sir Alex. Let us for once get this straight, there will never be another Alexander Champan Ferguson, ever. Ferguson and the club perhaps underestimated his greatness. Ferguson wasn’t simply just a Scot with principles and values but also a rare footballing brain and an indomitable character.
