Tottenham Hotspur handed out a 5-year deal to bag Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach, occupying the spot vacated by Tim Sherwood in the summer.
Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy has a master plan to make the club one of the best in England and in Europe. The state of the art training center and the Enfield training complex were part of his plans which were implemented recently. Meanwhile, a new stadium and the North Humberland Development project are underway as part of his blueprint. Another essential plan was to entrust the club in a young and dynamic manager who can reap success in the short and long run by playing in the Spurs way.
The young Portuguese manager Andre Villas-Boas was the first one entrusted with the job. He lead the club to a record points tally in his first season, but missed out on Champions League football. He got another bite in the cherry next season but heavy defeats at the hands of Manchester City, Liverpool and West Ham United sealed his fate in December 2013. Under Andre Villas-Boas, slow build-up play took out the attraction of the Spurs way and this also contributed in his downfall in the fans’ as well as the management’s eyes.
Villas-Boas was replaced by Tottenham Hotspur’s highly rated technical co-ordinator Tim Sherwood in the middle of the season. Even though he brought back the attacking style of play, it paved the way for an open and porous defence. Daniel Levy was smart in offering Tim Sherwood a deal with an exit clause, as the newcomer didn’t pass the test. Tim Sherwood had a high win percentage to boast of, but his loss percentage was also high and he was sacked at the end of season.
Pochettino Takes The Wheel
Tottenham Hotspur are again back on their feet, planning it big for the future, as the manager hunt started yet again. Two bright young managers lead the race from the start: Ajax boss Frank De Boer and Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino. Mauricio Pochettino was the leading candidate and, as expected, has sealed the deal to become Tottenham Hotspur’s new Head Coach.

This team has weaved their magic at Espanyol and Southampton, and Tottenham fans will be hoping that the Glory Glory Nights will be back at the Lane under Mauricio Pochettino.
