Having been kicked out of the Champions League on Wednesday, Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney could have played his last for the Red Devils this season after having seriously injured his toe at Allianz Arena.
The English striker injured his toe in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals tie against Bayern Munich but was determined to play in the return leg knowing fully well that he was important to the squad. Though he was rested for the weekend Premier League fixture, he turned up at Allianz Arena for the second leg but could not prevent Manchester United from a humiliating exit at the hands of Bayern Munich.
However reports now emerge that Rooney hurt his toe again on Wednesday and hence will not be used by Manchester United for the rest of the season giving the striker plenty of time to get back in shape for the World Cup later this year.
The striker apparently had to take injections to be able to play at Allianz Arena and is suspected to have further aggravated his injury on Wednesday. A source close to Manchester United revealed that though the injury is not serious, it is one that will take time to repair.
