Dutch manager Louis van Gaal has claimed that style of football at Manchester United doesnai??i??t suit Robin van Persie at the moment.
Robin van Persie, who was instrumental in Manchester Unitedai??i??s league winning campaign last season, has struggled with a lot of fitness concerns this season. But despite starting in only 14 league matches so far, van Persie has already managed to score 10 goals and remains the clubai??i??s top scorer in the league this season.
Along with injuries, there has also been a lot of speculations about his future at Old Trafford in the media, so much so that he has even been linked with a move back to Arsenal next summer. Manchester United struggled this season under new manager David Moyes and will now have to perform exceptionally well to find a place in the top four. English media has published a lot of stories about discontent in the United dressing room and it was initially reported that there has been a clash between Robin van Persie and David Moyes over training methods.
Dutch head coach Louis van Gaal however believes that despite United struggles in the league this season, Robin van Persie will shine for his national team in the upcoming World Cup in Brazil. The 62-year-old however insists that Manchester Unitedai??i??s style of play doesnai??i??t suit the former Arsenal strikerai??i??s game and that he is more suited to the football the national team plays.
“I think he should be great in the tournament because he loves to play [for his country. He has shown that in all the qualification matches more than ever, because heai??i??s our top scorer, and I hope he can continue this.
“The football from Manchester United now is, for him, maybe difficult but then he wishes to show his ability. Technique [levels] in the Dutch team are higher.
“The Dutch team might benefit, you never know.” ai??i?? van Gaal said in an interview.
The former Barcelona manager has also been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur after Andre Villas Boas was dismissed earlier this season. Van Gaal has once again expressed his interest to manage in England and has insisted that a job at Spurs remains a possibility in the future.
“I am mostly interested in England because I have been a coach in Spain, Germany, in the Netherlands, so I think England is the next step in my career.
“Spurs? It could be another club – it depends on the vacancies, because Spurs were already [in touch] with me.
