As Manchester United prepare to take on Aston Villa on Saturday, reports suggest that United fans have orchestrated for a plane to fly over Old Trafford carrying a banner asking for Moyesai??i?? sacking.
After a disastrous first season in charge, the verdict on the Chosen One is clear-the manager has lost the fans who are now calling for his head to roll. Despite Sir Alex Fergusonai??i??s clear message asking the fans to stand by their new manager, the fans have lost their patience and have reportedly also turned against Sir Alex Ferguson who they hold responsible for appointing Moyes in the first place.
It is no secret that Moyesai??i?? spell as the manager of Manchester United has proved to be disastrous and has undone quite a lot at a club which was carefully built by Sir Alex Ferguson. He has failed to tactically outsmart his opposition or motivate his players who were once ready to die for the club. Having cut an increasingly frustrated and dismayed figure on the sidelines, perhaps it will be fair to analyse whether itai??i??s all Moyesai??i?? fault or whether he has just been plain unlucky on top of being plain ordinary as a manager.
Yes Moyes has failed to organise Manchester United in a way that would have maximised their potential. Looping in crosses while having the likes of Mata, Rooney, Robin Van Persie and Janujaz did seem to be a waste of talent, however one must remember that the players at United are not the same as they were under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The message to the players from the departing manager was quite clear. They were expected to make the transition period smoother and were expected to give the fans something to hope for. The last minute goals, the come-backs and the fierce determination of the Manchester United players are not dependent on the managerai??i??s tactics but on the teamai??i??s determination to win at any cost. And it is this resolve that seems to be missing in the players. Gone is the urgency with which the players played as they look resigned and dismayed on the pitch. And more importantly, the same United players who picked up their game against big teams seem to have surrendered games against crucial opponents such as Manchester City and Liverpool.
The midfield was always woefully inadequate and continues to be so under David Moyes but the players often made up for their lack of talent with their determination to win the game. However players like Cleverley and Fellaini have failed miserably in the middle. Maybe they are too young and need more experience, but the two seem to be overwhelmed on certain occasions and do not have the belief of reigning Champions. And it reflects in their performance on the pitch.

He was spot on with his observation and believed that the current crop of mid fielders have failed to take risks and have paid the cost dearly. Its almost as if Rooney has to drop back every time and carry the ball forward.

The defenders too have failed Moyes miserably. Yes the team has suffered quite a few injuries but that is no excuse for failing to defend tightly at the back. Rio Ferdinand, one of Unitedai??i??s most experienced players has looked woefully out of touch and it was his error that costed United against City. Vidic too is leaving this summer and United have no support whatsoever from their wings. They have been defensively weak and have failed to play the ball from the back which is necessary in modern football.
Though the forward department is somewhat more balanced than the midfield and the defence, players like Danny Welbeck have failed to shine under David Moyes. Remember the Welbeck against Real Madrid last season? We havenai??i??t seen that this season. Deploying Mata and Kagawa on the wings havenai??i??t helped either but the onus is also on the players to fit into a system instead of having the system change for him.
So as Manchester United gear up for the last leg, one that is very unlikely to end on a sweet note, the fans should understand that David Moyes alone does not deserve to be blamed. The players have failed along with their new manager. As reports of players falling out with players come pouring in, one wonders if the ‘Chosen One’ is alone to be blamed.
