Manchester United edge closer to signing Juan Cuadrado, ahead of Barcelona
Manchester United are on the verge of completing the A?36million signing of Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado in the next few days, according to reports in the English media.
The Colombian winger is an important target for United manager Louis van Gaal. Despite continuous links with Catalan giants Barcelona, the winger is expected to move to Manchester and sign for the Dutchman.
According to reports, the 20 time league champions opened their bid with A?32million but Fiorentina said that they won’t let the talented attacker leave for anything lesser than A?36million. It seem that United are obliging and letting the Italian club have what they want. They are expected to sign the player shortly now.
“I donai??i??t know yet what will happen.Ai??At this moment I havenai??i??t received any concrete offers from any club” said Cuadrado back in early July
Last week, Fiorentina sporting director told Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, “We’ll see the best situation, if there was an offer of ai??i??50 million he would be hard to give up, but at the moment there has been no official request. Cuadrado is a sensitive boy, we’ll talk with him.”
Cuadrado is adept at playing on both the left or right wing, and even as a wing back. He is a pacey winger who enjoyed a terrific season in Serie A last time out and his performance in the World Cup was eye-catching as well. He is menacing on the attack as he provides width and can link up well with the forwards for them to feed off his deliveries. He is an awe-worthy dribbler and it was reported in 2013, that he doubled theAi??dribbling rate of Cristiano Ronaldo, per league game.
Van Gaal’s tenure with the Manchester side has been extremely positive so far, be it the transfers or the pre-season. A lot is expected from the Dutchman in this coming season and the manager wants to assemble a team that can deliver to such expectations. The additions of Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw have given the indication of ambition from the United camp, after an underwhelming season last time out. The club has continuously been linked with Chilean ace Arturo Vidal although nothing concrete has been done on that front. It seems that Cuadrado will be heading to Old Trafford instead of Camp Nou, which is a testament to the image and reputation van Gaal and Manchester United carry.
