Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal has admitted his sidesai??i?? interest in Kevin Strootman ahead of their game against AS Roma tonight.
Kevin Strootman is currently sidelined due to injury and Roma boss Rudi Garcia has already confirmed that his star midfielder will be staying at Olympic Stadium next season. However, it now appears that Manchester United have not given up the hopes of signing him.
Manchester United are due to face AS Roma in Denver later today. Manchester United boss Van Gaal is a big admirer of Kevin Strootman and he even had a plan to take the midfielder to Brazil before he suffered his injury while playing in a Serie A game against SSC Napoli.
Van Gaal admitted today in his pre-match press conference that he is ready to monitor Strootman’s fitness in the coming days.
“I never say anything about individual players,” Van Gaal said. “It is my vision that we talk about a team and not individual players.
“But Strootman I can judge. He is injured for more than six months, though, and we have to wait and see how he comes back.
“It is not easy to say how he comes back from injury, but we will wait and see.”
Manchester United have already signed Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao this summer and it appears now that Van Gaal wants to partner Kevin Strootman with the Spaniard with in the heart of the midfield.

“It is unbelievable that we play at two o’clock,” Van Gaal said. “We will adapt to the situation and all the players will play for 45 minutes except Tom Cleverley and Tyler Blackett.
“For the players, it is very hard and I hope I can persuade the referee to have a drinks break as I did in Fortaleza (during the World Cup with Holland).
“We have a sports science department and it shall be done very well with the conditions, especially those players who will play 45 minutes.”
