Atletico Madrid defender Miranda, who has been linked with Manchester United, Chelsea FC and FC Barcelona, has revealed offers from England and Spain.
The 29-year-old is coming of the back of the most successful season of his career, having won the La Liga title and reached the final of the Champions League with Atletico Madrid. Miranda formed a strong partnership with Diego Godin at the back, which formed the base for Atleticoai??i??s defensive record last season. His performances, like most of the Atletico players, have drawn a lot of attention from a host of European clubs.
Manchester United and Barcelona have monitored his progress last season and reports suggest that they are likely to make a bid for the Brazilian defender, who was surprisingly left out of the World Cup squad. Recent reports suggested that Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund are also eyeing a move for Miranda in the summer, despite the defender having signed a contract extension only three months back.
Miranda has now publicly revealed interest from English and Spanish clubs and has hinted at a possible move away from Atletico Madrid.
“I have some offers and we are negotiating.
“I have offers from Spanish and English leagues and from some less important ones too.
“My agent is in Europe to decide my future, my buy-out fee at Atletico Madrid is ai??i??30million, but that can be negotiated.” ai??i?? The Atletico Madrid defender said in an interview.
Miranda also expressed his disappointment at being ignored for the Brazilian world cup squad and insisted is inclusion could have helped the team.
“I was sad (when I was not called up). I was hopeful of getting called up and it was a big disappointment not to have been.
“I am in a very good moment both technically and physically. I could be helping the national team by being one of the 23 but I will be supporting them.” ai??i?? He added.
With Miranda pointing out that the release clause is negotiable, it is clear that the defender is looking for an opportunity elsewhere. Manchester United were heavily linked with him initially in the transfer window as they looked to replace Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic at the back, while Barcelona are in similar need of defensive reinforcement after the retirement Carles Puyol. But Mirandaai??i??s current contract runs till 2016 and Atletico Madrid are unlikely to let him go for a cheap transfer fee.
