According to Metro, Liverpool are preparing to make a bid for Hoffenheim attacker Roberto Firmino at the end of the season.
According to the report, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers expects to have a busy summer transfer window thanks largely to the extra cash that is expected to be generated by qualifying for the Champions League.
He wants to add to their attacking options by signing 22 year old Firmino who is a pacey and creative play-maker. The Brazilian is capable of playing on either wing or even as a striker, making his versatility an attractive proposition for Rodgers.
Firmino has been outstanding for Hoffenheim this season, and has earned rave reviews for his superb performances in the Bundesliga. He has scored 11 goals and made 8 assists in 21 Bundesliga appearances this season which has attracted the attention of the Reds.
The report states that Hoffenheim are unlikely to want to sell their star man on the cheap and Liverpool would have to make an offer in the region of A?12m to complete the deal. Firmino himself is expected to be open to the transfer in a bid to earn a regular place in the Brazilian national team setup.
According to Mirror, Liverpool are also plotting a A?5m bargain move for Barcelona striker Bojan Krkic to strengthen their attack.
The Spaniard was once valued at more than A?35million three years ago when he signed for Roma but has seen his value collapse since that unhappy move to Roma, which saw him quickly loaned out to AC Milan and then re-signed by Barca, who exercised a buy-back clause last summer.
Liverpoolai??i??s scouts are reported to have watched him play on loan at Ajax several times in recent weeks, with an Anfield representative running the rule during the Dutch club’s surprise Europa League defeat by Salzburg last Thursday.
Bojan is a versatile striker capable of playing in all positions along the front line and in front of midfield. He admitted this week that his future is now up in the air, as he raised doubts over whether his deal with the Amsterdam club will be made permanent.
“We’ll see about my future, there are still two months of the season to go before any decisions have to be made,” he explained.
Bojan fits the Anfield bill perfectly – a young player with a massive reputation who played more than 100 games for Barca, but has lost his way a little in recent seasons. In many ways it would signify a move similar to that made for Philippe Coutinho last year, who was snapped up from Inter Milan for A?8.5m.
The Reds are said to be monitoring the situation and they are ready to make their move in the summer if they can do a deal at around the A?5m mark.
