The Liverpool FC boss has revealed that Glen Johnson has returned to training at Melwood on Monday, but would not be available for the FA Cup match against Arsenal FC tomorrow.
The England international last featured for the Reds during their home match against Aston Villa. Liverpool were held to a 2-2 scoreline against Paul Lambert’s visiting team and whileAi??Johnson played the full 90 minutes, he was ruled out of the team henceforth and has missed five matches since.
Rodgers spoke about the progress the 29 year old has made and any potential changes in the team in his pre-match conference:
“We’ll be similar to what we were the other night [against Fulham].
“Glen Johnson is working very well. I’m not sure he’ll be ready for the game this weekend, but if we can have a good week next week he’ll be very close.
“He looks fresher and he looks fitter. That period that he’s had out has really helped him. He’s in good condition. But there is still a bit to go yet. Daniel Agger is back in the squad and it’s as it was really.”
Daniel Agger featured as a substitute for Liverpool in the 3-2 win against Fulham on Wednesday and Rodgers praised his cameo role after the match and commented:

It seems likely that the Denmark captain would replace Kolo Toure in the starting lineup as the summer signing from Manchester City has made two costly mistakes in the last three matches. A misguided back pass meant that Victor Anichebe squared the scoreline for West Brom and Liverpool came back home with only a point. A bizarre own goal against Fulham could have proved to be costly, but fortunately for the Reds, Liverpool went on to win that match.
Meanwhile there are reports suggesting Jordan Henderson might miss the match due to his wrist surgery.
Reports say that the Liverpool staff are yet to make a decision on whether the 23 year old will feature for them against Arsenal, and the medical staff would assess the player and decide it.
Henderson was suffering from a broken wrist which was caused due to a collision with a broken barrier in Liverpool’s 5-1 victory against Arsenal last week. Henderson played the match against Fulham on WednesdayAi??with a protective cast on his left wrist and he was given pain killers before to help get him through it.
Reports suggest that another cast has been made ready for the 23 year old for the FA Cup tie tomorrow, but Rodgers would only let him play, if he is sure it won’t cause major discomfort or a prolonged injury for the midfielder.
