Liverpool FC have been struggling in their current campaign and Brendan Rodgers will be looking for reinforcements in the January transfer window. Reports indicate that the Norther Irishman is keen to add Radja Nainggolan and feels the Belgian midfielder can add steel to his midfield.
The 26 year old been valued between A?15-A?20m, but the complications of co-ownership could deter Liverpool chiefs.
The player is currently co-owned by Roma and Cagliari and Rudi Garcia’s led club purchased 50 per cent of Nainggolan’s rights in January 2014 for a lowly A?7m, but since then, they haven’t been able to work out a deal with their fellow Serie A club for the remainder of the sum.Ai??Cagliari are currently in the dominant position and being so, are reportedly asking for almost double the A?7m fee for their 50 per cent stake.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool want to exploit the situation and are willing to offer Cagliari ai??i??15m for their half of the midfielder ai??i?? more than double the amount (ai??i??6m) that Roma are reportedly offering. The report also writes that in order toAi??Cagliari not to do business with the English club, Roma are rumoured to be considering an offer of between ai??i??10m and ai??i??11m for a duel permanent move for Nainggolan as well as Davide Astori and the loan of Salih Ucan.
Liverpool have the resources to tempt Cagliari to sell the Belgian to them, so Roma definitely need to resolve the situation by June since the 26 year old is an integral part of the side.
Nainggolan has been one of the best players in the Serie A this season and has started 13 league matches scoring three goals and grabbing an assist. He is a midfield engine and his energy and defensive instincts make him an ideal cover for Steven Gerrard. His ability to regularly drive forward makes him a threat in attack as well. He links up play with attackers well and helps in the transition between defence and attack- a crucial part of today’s modern game.
While the transfer doesn’t look likely since Roma wouldn’t part with an integral part of their side, a very important player this season, if Brendan Rodgers were to offer a good sum for the 26 year old, he would have a great midfield enforcer within his ranks, something which is missing greatly at Anfield this season.
