Daniel Sturridge’s expected comeback this weekend could be pushed further back as he has suffered another injury.
Liverpool ECHOAi??report:Ai??Daniel Sturridge’s hopes of making his Liverpool FC comeback this weekend look set to be dashed after he suffered yet another injury setback.Ai??The Reds striker, who hasnai??i??t featured for the Reds since late August, limped out of a training session at Melwood on Monday after complaining of pain in his thigh.Ai??Sturridge was sent for scans and boss Brendan Rodgers is anxiously awaiting the results which are expected on Wednesday.Ai??Worryingly, itai??i??s the same thigh which Sturridge hurt during an England training session in early September.
It is not certain how long this injury is going to keep him out, but it is unlikely that he will make his comeback anytime soon.
Sturridge played in a Ai??training game on Tuesday, but he limped out of training. He is now set toAi??undergo a scan on his thigh and the fans will be updated as to the length of his time out.

The England international was expected to return for Liverpoolai??i??s match with Crystal Palace this sunday. He last played a competative game for the Reds on 31st August against Tottenham Hotspur
With the last 10 weeks out on the sidelines, the 24 year old might face another lengthy spell out.
The striker posted a message that read “Wish I was with England though not gonna lie but my body is ready now and that’s all that matters” on Instagram just yesterday.
Liverpool now have more problems to address. This international break came in at the perfect time for them as they could regroup and Brendan Rodgers could take a breather and decide how to proceed after a disappointing few weeks. But much was dependent on Sturridge’s return as Liverpool have struggled in front of goal immensely. Between the present three strikers, the Reds have two goals in all competitions- both of them being Balotelli’s (one in Champions League and one in the League Cup)- and none in the Premier League. Sturridge’s return would also help Rodgers play his favored 4-4-2 formation with Balotelli and Daniel up-top- it has been played only once, against Spurs, and seemed to be clicking well.
Rodgers would now have to figure out a way to get his side going, and the attack thriving. Liverpool might as well have to invest heavily in the winter transfer window. The option of paying Lille extra and getting Divock Origi back from his loan with the French club also remains an unlikely option.
It is of course, not certain, how serious the injury is and how long Sturridge will be out for, but his immediate return after the international break, which was all Liverpool fans were pinning their hopes on, can be pretty much ruled out.
The Merseysiders are in all competitions at the moment, and their aim would be to progress out of the group stages in the Champions League, do well in the domestic competitions and achieve a top 4 finish in the league. But if they don’t score goals, and continue playing the way they have so far, it would be another disappointing season in the coastal city.
