Liverpool were confident of completing the signing of Loic Remy from Queen Parks Rangers. However, it has been reported that the striker failed to clear his medical and the deal has hence collapsed.
Liverpool ECHO report: “Liverpool FC have refused to comment on why the deal won’t be completed but it is believed to be related to a problem with his medical.Ai??The 27-year-old underwent the usual medical tests before going to New York after the club granted him a few days off.Ai??Anfield sources put the delay in announcing his signing down to a minor paperwork issue but it appears that Liverpool were in fact seeking a second opinion over a medical issue.Ai??On the back of that advice they took the decision not to proceed with the transfer.”
Remy flew to Boston last week to link up with the squad on their tour of the United States of America. Liverpool had Ai??triggered the release clause in his contract by then. Fabio Borini’s future with the Reds in uncertain and if the Italian goes to Sunderland, Liverpool will have only two strikers in the team.
