Liverpool could make a move for Genoa right-back Sime Vrsaljko as the club is reported to beAi??monitoring the Serie A defender. The 21-year-old Genoa right-back has been reported as a possible target for the Reds after he impressed Liverpool scouts in some imposing displays.
Vrsaljko’s preferred position is right back, but he can also play anywhere in the back line, making him a very versatile player and it is believed that it is this versatality, which has impressed Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.
His agent Nikky Vuksan commented that the Croatian was not particularly looking for Ai??move, but it is up to the club to decide:
“Playing for Genoa is an honour for him and he’s very happy here. Will he leave in January or June? It’s hard to say now because it’s up to the club.”
The 22 year old is believed to cost any suitors at least A?10million. Italian giants Inter Milan are keeping tabs on the situation and look like the front runners as well.
Liverpool made a lot of purchases in the defence department in the summer- Mamadou Sakho, Thiago Ilori, Aly Cissokho, Kolo Toure. But the Reds did not get any back-ups in the right back spot to give the club another option there. Glen Johnson is the player who plays as the right back for the club and Rodgers would want to provide depth in the squad especially because he knows how important it is to have specialists for a particular spot and how the back-line struggles when a defender plays out of position. Liverpool would get more cover in the left back spot as well as Vrsaljko can play from that position easily as well.
Iago Aspas back to La Liga?
Spanish outfit Valencia are looking to make a loan move for Liverpool striker Iago Aspas, according to reports emerging in Spain.
The 26-year-old has struggled to find his feet for the Reds since his move from La Liga side Celta de Vigo. It is reported that Valencia boss Juan Antonio Pizzi has inquired about his availabilty, as he feels the 26 year old has a lot more to offer than he has at Liverpool. He also feels that Aspas would get firing in his homeland.
Aspas started the recent FA Cup game against Oldham and also netted his first goal for Liverpool in the match- a sumptuous volley from a ball fed in by Raheem Sterling.
With the return of Daniel Sturridge, it is evident that Aspas would be warming the bench most of the times. However, Rodgers might want to use the 26 year old to have depth in the squad.
However, Aspas would obviously want to go to a place where he can play regular football, and the Spaniard has spoken of his frustration at not getting to do that earlier this season.
Liverpool could get Jorginho with a “great offer”
Liverpool target Jorginho will be allowed to leave Serie A club Hellas Verona this month, but only if the club receives a “great offer, according to the player’s representative.
The Reds were increasingly linked with the 22 year old during the summer transfer window. The player has shined for the newly promoted Italian club and has netted the ball seven times in 17 matches.
Jorginho is wanted by clubs all over Europe including several teams in Italy, England and Russia. Zenit St Petersburg and Chelsea are two of the other clubs closely monitoring his trail. The player’s agent Joao Santos spoke about the Brazilian making his way out of the club later this month.
He can leave Verona now if he receives a great offer – if an important proposal arrives it is fair that the player is allowed to leave.
But Liverpool’s strongest competition for the signature of Jorginho is Italian club, Napoli. The Serie A side is closely observing the player and Santos said that if Napoli should talk to Verona if they do indeed want to rope the player in
