Liverpool Enquiries About Benzema, Cavani, Falcao Rejected: Reports

Liverpool enquiries rejected for Karim Benzema, Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani

Liverpool are evidently looking to bring in a striker in the remainder of the transfer window. The loss of Luis Suarez has not been covered in the form of another forward, albeit Brendan Rodgers has enough players to compensate for the goals. Rickie Lambert has been signed but he has been brought in as a third choice striker, an upgrade on last season’s flop, Iago Aspas. Lambert is a traditional front-man, someone who can offer something different in tight situations- something the Reds lacked last season.

Moreover, given that the Loic Remy deal fell off at the last moment due to alleged medical reasons and that Fabio Borini looks set for for Sunderland, after Gus Poyet said he was confident of striking a deal, Liverpool could only have two strike options for next season- Daniel Sturridge and Rickie Lambert- which would obviously be a worry for the club.

The Reds have thus been sniffing around for options and it was recently brought to the fore that they had inquired about Falcao and Cavani. Liverpool have been linked with Ezequiel Lavezzi and that looks like a realistic option especially since he declined a contract extension. However, Lavezzi plays more like a wide forward. Still, at the moment, his addition will hugely benefit the Reds and if Brendan Rodgers persists with one striker system, Lavezzi’s inclusion in the squad will be great since he is versatile enough to play both on the wings as well as in front.Ai??The 29 year old scored 12 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions last season, and helped his side lift the French League Cup as well as defend their league title.
