TheHardTackle caught up with FC Pune City’s Players in the mixed zone after their game against league leaders Atletico De Kolkata and here is what the players had to say.
We caught up with Goalscorer Kostas Katsouranis and when he was asked if he had scored the best goal of his career so far , Kostas Katsouranis said that he has scored goals like this before and that the goal was dedicated to Pune City FC Goalkeeper Emanuele Belardi , who could not join his teammates for the trip to Kolkata due to injury.
Kostas said “I had a talk with Emanuelle before the match and i told him today i would score for you and i scored , so the goal I dedicated to him “.
Kostas was also asked about which position he likes to play in and he replied that in Europe sometime he plays as a defender but he likes to play in midfield.
Defender Pritam Kotal , who played a massive part in Pune’s win underlined the importance of this win by saying ” We were underdogs before the game and we go out as winners , so hopefully this performance will give us a massive boost and we can push for a place in the Semi Final’s “
He also said , ” This result proves that in Football anything can happen , today was our day so we are going out as winners perhaps tomorrow we can also lose by 3-1 , in football things like this happens and nobody can surely predict the winner “.
When asked if this was Pune City FC ‘s best performance in the Indian Super League , he replied ” Yes , till now this is the best game that we have played , hopefully we can play like this in the remaining games”.
Manager Franco Colomba was delighted with his teams performance, “Obviously I am really happy with the boys effort today , we did not have David Trezeguet but Dudu stepped up and did a brilliant job in leading the attack ” .
When the manager was asked about the 3rd goal , which was scored by Davide Colomba , he said ” Yes it was a brilliant goal and it is a special goal for me as my son scored it , so altogether I return from Kolkata as a Happy man “
