Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Morgan Schneiderlin continues to push for a move as his relationship with Southampton worsens.
This has been one of the longest running transfer saga in the Premier League this season and it is on the verge of being transformed into a soap opera. Morgan Schneiderlin continues his crusade to join Tottenham Hotspur, while Southampton continue to play hardball.
Schneiderlinai??i??s future at Southampton has come under a lot of speculation this summer with both Arsenal and Tottenham being linked with a move for the Frenchman. ButAi??the midfielder is keen on a move to White Hart LaneAi??due to the presence of former Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino, and has handed over a transfer request after Southampton refused to allow any more departures.
Morgan Schneiderlin joined Southampton in 2008 and immediately established himself in the starting eleven. The 24-year-old was a key member of the squad which won promotion back to the Premier League. Schneiderlin has produced some wonderful performances in the midfield for the Saints and is regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the league currently.
His consistency for Southampton has earned him a lot of admirers and a host of clubs have monitored his progress. This summer he has been linked with a move away from St Maryai??i??s Stadium with Tottenham Hotspur interested in signing him.
Schneiderlin recently expressed his displeasure at the whole situation through a tweet from his account, and has reportedly handed over a transfer request. But Southampton are determined to block his exit and new manager Ronald Koeman has asked him to accept this and honour his contract.
Koeman believes that Schneiderlin is being influenced by Tottenham and his agent and has warned him that situation will worsen if he continues this crusade for an exit.
“The situation is difficult because the player makes it difficult.Ai??I spoke to him with our chairman and the situation has not changed ai??i?? we won’t sell Schneiderlin and he has to accept that.
“I’m not so much angry because there’s some different influences around the player. Maybe Tottenham is pressing the player, maybe the agent.
“Tomorrow he is not in the squad. He said he is not physically and, even more importantly, mentally prepared for the game.Ai??On one side I can understand that.
“We told him to take the weekend off and think about the situation but if this is still the situation next week then Morgan has a big problem.
