Cardiff City have unveiled former Manchester United forward Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their new manager and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has backed him to succeed in his new role.
The appointment of Solskjaer at the helm of the Welsh club was imminent after the 40 year old was seen at the Emirates stadium alongside owner Vincent Tan as he watched the Bluebirds sink to a 2-0 defeat against the league leaders. The club has now officially unveiled him as their manager.

This will undoubtedly be the biggest challenge in Solskjaer managerial career so far. He has been in charge of the Manchester Unitedai??i??s reserve team before joining his former club Molde and guiding them to two Norwegian Premier League titles, along with a Norwegian Cup this year. The former United striker also confirmed that Sir Alex Ferguson has wished him success in his new endeavour and has rubbished claims that the former Manchester United manager has advised him to refuse this job.
“He [Sir Alex Ferguson] has wished me the best and given me some good advice as he always does. I had a good conversation with him,” he said. “It is absolute nonsense (that he told me to turn down Cardiff).” ai??i?? He added.
Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has also backed this appointment and is confident that Solskjaer will succeed as a manager at Cardiff.
“I have seen him before the game, and they played like they knew he [Solskjaer] was in the stand.
“Cardiff has the basic ingredients to survive in the Premier League. You would say if you look at their record they need to add a bit more goals offensively to stay in the league.
“If he (Solskjaer) can find that in the final third something clinical like he was, then they will stay in the league because they have the basic quality to do it.
“It is a chance (for Solskjaer). Basically what you want when you are young is a chance and after you have to make the maximum of that chance.
“He has already experience as a manager in Norway, so he has learned his job.
