New Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is understandably excited about his new project and has assured the Blaugrana fans that the team will be playing an exciting and attacking brand of Football under him.
FC Barcelona formally unveiled Luis Enrique as their coach today. During his press conference, Enrique gave his opinions to all the questions thrown at him. Since Enriqueai??i??s appointment, some fans have raised their doubts over the style of football Blaugrana will be playing under him. However, former Spain midfielder has stressed that he will not change the ai???Barca Brandai??? of football. He said: “I’m looking forward to hearing the BarAi??a anthem at the Camp Nou again. Our style will be based on attacking philosophy. My challenge is to serve up a brand of football that is both attractive and effective”.
“It’s a very exciting and very special day, on which we begin the task of building a new BarAi??a that gets people excited again. When I left, the club said “see you soon” [not goodbye], and they’ve been as good as their word”.
Enrique admitted that he did not expected to get the Barca job so soon but understands how big this project is: “Coaching the first team was never in my plans. These sorts of wonderful things never come about if you contemplate them. I hope to stay true to myself as a person and as a coach. We will start making decisions on some important issues this afternoon. I know I have a big responsibility and how difficult the new challenge facing BarAi??a is”.
Lionel Messi has looked out of form this whole season but Enrique has stressed that he will do everything possible to get the best out of the Argentine striker. “I’m delighted to have the chance to work with the best player in the world. It’s a big motivation. There’s no doubt his performances haven’t been as incredible as before, but he’s still number one. Messi is absolutely essential for the squad. I hope I can help him find his best form again”.
Luis Enrique is known for his intensive training sessions in which highest preference is given for physical fitness and the Spaniard admits that, he will not change his style at Barcelona. “I always think positively. I’m going to manage the group the same way I did at BarAi??a B, Roma and Celta. As a coach, my aim is to help them. I don’t think a hardline approach is what’s needed: the players need fluid communication, to all swim in the same direction and to apply the highest standards in their work”.
Barcelona is expected to make a complete overhaul of their squad this summer after the disastrous season and they have already taken some steps in that direction by signing the likes of Rafinha, Ter Stegen and Gerard Deulofeu.
