FC Barcelona failed in their attempts to sign Juan Cuadrado during last transfer window but the club has revived its interest and they plan to make a move again in the summer of 2014.
Juan Cuadrado was the key member of Colombiaai??i??s World Cup squad and FC Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is a big admirer of his work ethic. Ai??The Blaugrana tried to sign the player during the summer transfer window itself but they baulked at the asking price of Fiorentina. But FC Barcelona management now believes that Cuadrado can be lured away from Fiorentina in the summer of 2015. However, the biggest obstacle ahead of Barcelona management is their of transfer ban imposed by Fifa.
FC Barcelona are banned for making any signing until 2016 but the club has filed an appeal against this decision of Fifa. The club authorities are hopeful of getting success in their appeal and Sporting Director Andoni Zubizaretta is already working on a plan to lure Cuadrado away in the next summer.
Meanwhile, reports coming from Spain have also confirmed the revival of FC Barcelonaai??i??s interest in Cuadrado. Barcelona based newspaper El Mundo Deportivo claims that: ai???Blaugrana are still hot on the heels of the Colombia international, and that Luis Enrique is eyeing him as a potential replacement for the outgoing Dani Alves.
However, any move for Cuadrado would be influenced by the outcome of the Court of Arbitration for Sportai??i??s ruling on Barcelonaai??i??s transfer ban, which was originally set to start in time for the recent summer transfer market.ai???
FC Barcelona are interested in Cuadrado because coach Luis Enrique believes that he could be a worthy successor of Dani Alves. The Brazilian right-back is sure to bid good bye to FC Barcelona in 2015.
Cuadrdo plays as a winger for his current club Fiorentina but Luis Enrique feels that he is capable enough of playing at the position of right-back. FC Barcelona signed Douglas from Santos in last transfer window while they also have Martin Montoya as a replacement of Dani Alves. But Luis Enrique is not fully convinced with their ability yet.
However, the stumbling block in this potential transfer could be the asking price of Fiorentina. The key reason behind the collapse of this transfer in last summer was the asking price of 40 million euros of Fiorentina. The Italian side is not expected to lower down their demand this time too but FC Barcelona are confident of getting their man for around 35 million euros.
