Last season was the most disastrous one of FC Barcelonaai??i??s recent history as they failed to win a single title. And this transfer window is going to be the start of a big transition at Camp Nou.
Barcelona management has already taken few steps to make the next season successful as they have appointed Luis Enrique as the new boss while Rafinha and Gerard Deulofeu have already returned from their respective loan periods and will be staying at Camp Nou only.
However, if Barcelona wants to return to its old glory days, much more changes are going to be required in the playing staff. And apart from bringing in new players, Barca management will have to get rid of the some of the current squad members who are deemed as surplus to requirements (or not of Barca standards?) at Camp Nou.
The important task ahead of coach Luis Enrique is to select the players who are not required anymore and get maximum possible return from their sell in order to generate funds for new signings. Here, THT has made the list of 5 players who are not needed at Camp Nou anymore. While preparing the list, we have considered the factors like the given players ability, age, his ai???invincibilityai???, suitability to the playing style of Barca and of course, his resale value.
1. Dani Alves: The Brazilian right back is not particularly happy at Barca these days. Martin Montoya has made excellent progress last year and considering Alvesai??i?? age, it is a right time to sell him. PSG are interested in his services and only they can pay the sum Barca wants for the Brazilian.
2.Ai??Ai?? Javier Mascherano: The Argentine is a natural midfielder but Barca have used him as defender all the time. This decision has cost Barca dearly and they must off load him now in order to pave the way for specialist central defender. Italian Serie A side Napoli have already begun the talks with Barce management over the potential transfer and most probably, Mascherano will be playing in South Italy next season.
3.Ai??Ai?? Alex Song: When Barcelona was in dire need of quality defender, they signed Alex Song to fill the gap. And as happened with Mascherano, Song never lloked settled at Camp Nou. Anyways, the former Arsenal man is not a Barca material. EPL sides Liverpool and Manchester United are said to be interested in him.
4.Ai??Ai?? Ibrahim Affelley: The Dutchman was never considered a Barca material. The ex-Ajax man arrived at Blaugrana on a free transfer but was never able to make any impact as he spent most of his time on dressing table. The Dutchman is fit to play now but he should be playing at another club, not at Camp Nou.
5.Ai??Ai?? Pedreo Rodriguez: Of these players, Pedro makes the most serious case to remain at Barca. However, considering the talent levels of Juan Cuadrado, Pedro stands nowhere closer and should make the way for the Colombian. Pedro is a La Masia graduate and Barca can fetch a good amount of money from his transfer.
The likes of Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez have also been linked with a move away from Camp Nou but this author is of the opinion that both have necessary qualities to remain at Barca for many years to come. Especially in case of Fabregas, considering the age of Xavi, the ex-Arsenal man has the ability to replace him as his long term successor.
