FC Barcelona has still not managed to complete the transfer of Douglas and according to Santos vice-president, “it’s possible the deal won’t go through.”
FC Barcelona have agreed the financial terms of the transfer with Santos and the player himself is also ready to move to Catalunya but some technical problems have stalled the move.
Reports coming from Brazil and Spain have also confirmed that there are still some technical problems which need to be taken care of. FIFA has imposed a transfer ban on FC Barcelona which comes becomes effective on 1st September and the club is looking at the options to come out effectively of this situation and as a part of this process, club management has decided to sign Douglas from Santos and loan him back to his parent club for 2014-15 season.
However, the Brazilian transfer market is currently closed and the clubs can sale the player but they cannot sign anyone, which effectively mean that FC Barcelona can sign Douglas now but they cannot loan him back to Santos immediately. The only option available for FC Barcelona now is to loan him back some other European club.
Meanwhile, the current situation of Douglas has casted some doubts over the future of Dani Alves. The Brazilian international was expected to leave the club this summer but Barca management will not let him go until they sign a replacement.
Barca Captain Xavi: Iai??i??m Still Important To The Club
FC Barcelona captain Xavi Hernandez has insisted that he still can play a major role for the club. Xavi was linked with a move away from FC Barcelona earlier this summer but new coach Luis Enrique persuaded him to stay and continue to play for the Catalans.
FC Barcelona has appointed Xavi as a captain now and he is excited about the new season.
