Mats Hummels, who has been closely linked with Manchester United and Arsenal, has severely criticized Borussia Dortmund who are currently languishing in the relegation zone in the German Bundesliga.
Borussia Dortmund have endured a horrible first half of the 2014-2015 season and have managed to win just 4 of their 17 league games, losing 10 fixtures in total. They lost on Saturday against Werder Bremen and are currently on the 17th position, one above the bottom spot, in the German Bundesliga.
German defender Mats Hummels has labelled the club and their performance as ai???patheticai??i?? and believes that there is no guarantee that the team will get better after the winter break.
“It’s pretty astonishing that we are so pathetic. There is no guarantee that it will get better. There just isn’t. Almost every key player was injured in the first round [of the season].”

Hummels believes that if Dortmund can avoid any more injuries then they can think of a come-back but hasnai??i??t ruled out further injuries to key players.
“If we have all the strongest players back by the end of January, then it will be different. But there’s no guarantee of that.
“Three or four important players could get injured. Then we’ll have to deal with it differently from in the first round.”
Following Dortmundai??i??s lacklustre performances, Hummels has been strongly linked with a move away from Germany with Manchester United and Arsenal leading the race for the World-Cup winning defender. It was earlier reported that Van Gaal is keen to bring Hummels to United and the Red Devils are ready to pay A?47 million in order to sign the star defender.
Manchester Unitedai??i??s abysmal defence has led to their sharp decline and Van Gaal understands that he needs to improve the defence if United are to play a role in this seasonai??i??s title race. Unitedai??i??s defenders Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans and Rafael, along with new recruits Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo have all been sidelined at various stages of the season due to injuries, rendering the United back-line extremely unstable.
Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has also backed Unitedai??i??s interest in Hummels and believes that in the German defender, United will find both an able defender and a capable leader.
