After a 2-1 defeat in the first South India Derby, the Kerala Blasters have been left struggling at the bottom of the Super League table faring zero points in their two games. A Bernard Mendy stunner sealed the deal for Chennaiyin FC, as the game was evenly balanced, with Kerala dominating the dying embers of the tie.
“It was one of those games. We had plenty of chances, but they got a free-kick and a penalty and got 2 goals and I think that cost us the game” said coach-cum-player, David James, in a post match conference.
“The pitch was great and made for a very exciting game. It went down to the wire. I think the groundsmen have done a really good job to get the match on given the amount of rain we had over the last 3 or 4 days.” the former Manchester City Goalkeeper added.
