With reports of PSG planning a huge bid for Hazard in the summer, it is believed that Chelsea are looking at Christian Eriksen as a possible replacement.
Reports have resurfaced in the past few weeks that French giants Paris St. Germain are plotting a move for Chelsea’s in-form playmaker Eden Hazard. It has been speculated that Blues boss Jose Mourinho is now fearful of losing the Belgian international as the 23 year old might want to move back to Ligue 1.
Reportedly, PSG are confident of attaining the signature of the Chelsea man, especially after his interview with French channel Canal where he said that if his wife persuaded him to leave Stamford Bridge for a move to Paris, he’d oblige her. Ai??He said:
“If my wife was to say: ‘Honey, I’d like you to go to PSG’, I would have to take it into account.”
It is now believed that Jose Mourinho has identified Tottenham’s creative midfielder Christian Eriksen as the man to possibly replace Chelsea’s prized asset, in case Hazard left in the summer.Ai??Eriksen has been in fine form in recent months and has been one good summer signing for the North London club, as the summer additions have included the likes of Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado which have been listed as ‘flops’ of the season. Eriksen has been consistent with his performances and has done justice to the hype that surrounded him when he played for Ajax.Ai??Eriksen has five goals and four assists to his name in just his last seven appearances.
Chelsea are willing to offer double the amount paid by the Lilywhites to get the Danish player to Stamford Bridge and think that they have a good chance of the deal materializing as Chelsea would be able to offer the 22 year old Champions League football, something which will evade the North London club, in all probability.
THT Verdict- Unlikely
This transfer does not look like something that would materialize in the coming future. The likelihood of Hazard actually leaving Chelsea is very less. Hazard is doing well for the Blues. The club is in the Premier League title race and just pulled off an incredible comeback to progress to the semi-final stages of the Champions League, by in fact defeating PSG. There is no reason why Hazard would want Ai??a move away from the club, especially since he remains high in the pecking order. The only thing that do suggest a possible move would be his wife persuading him to leave. That is something that we can’t speculate on, but it still would be an unlikely event. In terms of lifestyle, London is along the same lines as Paris. Other than that, there is no reason why the Belgian would want to leave England for France. And since this would not happen, the arrival of Eriksen to Chelsea is also unlikely. The Blues already have a wide range of attacking midfielders, with Mohamed Salah being the latest addition.
Hence, this transfer possibility remains unlikely.
