Stoke Cityai??i??s prayers fall on deaf ears as midfielder Charlie Adam has been handed a three match ban by the FA following a stamp on the lower leg that the midfielder made on Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud during their league clash on Sunday.
The midfielder was seen catching the French striker but it went unnoticed by the referee. The FA brought charges against Adam and Stoke subsequently appealed against it.
But the FA rejected their plea and slapped a ban of three matches with immediate effect. In a statement the FA said “Stoke Cityai??i??s Charlie Adam will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after an FA charge for violent conduct was found proven.
“The incident with Arsenalai??i??s Olivier Giroud, which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video, occurred during the fixture between the two sides at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday 1 March 2014.
“Adam had denied the charge, but it was found proven at an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today [Wednesday 5 March 2014].”
Stoke city, on their part, denied the charges on their player and claimed that they were surprised with the move of the FA. Before appealing they said “Charlie and the club are surprised and disappointed to learn of this and will appeal vigorously against the decision.”
This ban will see the midfielder sit on the fences during his teamai??i??s next three matches against Norwich, West Ham and Aston Villa.
In another news, Arsenal fans would be delighted that they would finally be able to witness their only January signing Kim Kallstorm who should be able to take the field during Arsenalai??i??s FA Cup match against Everton on Saturday.
Kallstorm had been the only signing for the club and Wenger was heavily criticised for not trying to improve the squad after it showed signs of fragility prior to the transfer window.
The 31 year Swedish star was signed on loan from Spartak Moscow and he suffered an injury almost immediately. But now it seems that the bad days are behind him and soon he will be seen in action for the Gunners.
Although it looks certain that he will be ready in time of the Everton clash, but still if he is not available for that game, then certainly he will be there with the squad during the Tottenham match
