Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers signed a new long-term contract with the club.
The Reds enjoyed a dream campaign in the recently concluded season, which was unfortunately marred with the club missing out on the title in an agonizing fashion. However, the Merseyside team ended up finishing second and bringing Champions League back to the club after five long seasons. From being third favorites for the fourth spot to taking the title race till the final day and ending up finishing second, the Reds have Brendan Rodgers to be largely grateful to.
A new contract had been a subject of news even during the campaign but the Northern Irishman maintained that he would only look for new contracts, for himself and the players, once the season is concluded, to avoid any unwanted distractions. Liverpool have confirmed now that their manager has signed a long-term contract with the club. However, the length of the new deal was not specified.
The Liverpool boss was clearly pleased and thanked the management, players and fans.
“I am both humbled and privileged to be offered the chance to extend my stay at this great club.Ai??I am very happy to build on the foundations we have built over the last two years and now we move onto the next phase which I believe will be as exciting, challenging and rewarding”, said Rodgers

In an interview with the website, Rodgers expressed his delight at the contract:
“It’s a huge privilege for me to manage this club and to have been offered the opportunity to carry on with the work I have been doing over the last couple of years. It leaves me hugely honoured. I’m absolutely delighted to be able to continue what has been a really exciting time for the club. We’ll look to move forward again next season and over the coming seasons”
