Atletico Madrid have placed an offer for Sevilla’s full back Alberto Moreno who has been linked with a move to Liverpool
Last season’s La Liga winners are closing in on Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno, according to Spanish reports.Ai??
Rumors linking Liverpool’s with Alberto Moreno will cease only if he signs a new contract or if he goes to another club. It seems like that will happen very soon as Spanish daily AS report that the Madrid club are interested in the services of the talented 22 year old. AS report: “The Rojiblancos have been speaking to chiefs at the Andalusian outfit about the Spanish international for the past two days, placing an offer of 15 million euros on the table and including Leo Baptistao and Javi Manquillo in the deal.”
An offer of 15 million euros (around Ai??A?12 million) would not interest Sevilla as the club rejected an estimated Ai??A?16 million pound offer from Liverpool demanding at least 4 million pounds more. However, if the Spanish side is interested in the players Simeone is willing to offer alongside, Moreno might be heading to Madrid in the transfer window.
The offer of Javi Manquillo in the proposed deal might not work out for the Spanish giants as the player is keen on a move to Arsenal. He put off his loan with Marseille after he learnt that Arsene Wenger was interested in him and the right-back has been linked with the Gunners ever since. It is not clear whether his move would be on loan or permanent, but Manquillo seems keen on a move to England. The fact that a deal with Liverpool over the player was almost agreed upon, last winter, for a sum ofAi??A?8 million suggest that Simeone would not want to lose a player he can that kind of money for, for cheap.
Regardless, the possibility of the player moving to another city in Spain cannot be ruled out as nothing has been put to paper as yet.
It will be interesting to see whether Sevilla will let their prized asset leave and join a rival club in Spain for just A?12 million. They turned down Liverpool’s first offer of Suso on loan and A?16 million. Talks resurfaced after Sevilla successfully landed Iago Aspas on loan (with a future permanent nove option), but nothing materialized then, as the Spanish side was holding out for more money.
For Atletico, it will be a great addition. After the sale of Filipe Luis to Chelsea, last season’s Champions League runners up wantAi??Guilherme Siqueira and Moreno as their left back options as they look to make another successful title challenge along with being successful in the cup competitions.
