Arsenal FC Transfer target Rodrigo Caio has insisted that he is keen to extend his stay at Sao Paolo and has rebuffed claims of an offer from the Gunners.
The 20-year-old has drawn a lot of attention after his performances in the recently concluded Toulon tournament. He was the star of the Brazilian U-20 side which lifted the trophy. Arsenalai??i??s scouts were present in that tournament and Rodrigo Caio has caught the attention, leading to recommendation to Arsene Wenger.
Reports suggest that Arsenal have already made a A?7 million bid for Brazilian defender and are currently in talks with his football agent Jorge Mendes. Arsenalai??i??s chief scout Steve Rowley has already discussed the possibility of a move to the Emirates for the highly rated youngster, with Mendes believed to be keen to move the player to Europe. But Caio has rebuffed these claims and insisted that there are no concrete offers for him. The youngster stated that he is looking to extend his stay at Sao Paolo beyond this season.

Arsenal are in need to sign a new defender this summer following the rumours claiming the possible exit of Thomas Vermaelen from the Emirates. The Belgium international, who was limited to a role on the bench at Arsenal last season, is keen to experience regular first team action and reports suggest that Manchester United could be his possible destination. Add to that, Bacary Sagna has also left the club to join Manchester City, leaving Arsenal in need of a full back as well.
Rodrigo Caio rose to prominence in 2012 when he produced a wonderful performance against Neymar and received immense praise from Brazilian media. He is a versatile footballer who can play as a right back, holding midfielder and also as a center back, as he did last season when Paulo Miranda and Edson Silva suffered from injuries. His arrival will provide Arsene Wenger with lot of options tactically and considering his hyped talent, the quoted transfer fee seems like a bargain.
