Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is in the market for holding midfielder and Newcastle Unitedai??i??s Cheick Tiote is his preferred target.
Arsenal boss Wenger wants to increase the depth of his injury prone midfield and the likes of Sami Khedira of Real Madrid and William Carvalho of Sporting Lisbon have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium but Tiote could prove a cheaper yet quality option for the Gunners.
Reports coming from England have also confirmed the interest of Arsenal in the Newcastle United midfielder. Russian side Locomotive Moscow are the frontrunners for the signature of Tiote but the player is more interested in plying his trade in Premier League and he will accept the chance to join Arsenal with open arms. Arsenal have been unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Khedira or Carvalho so far but Wenger is content on signing at least one holding midfielder before the closure of transfer window and he feels that Tiote could add value to the squad. Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is not willing to let Tiote leave the club this summer but the player himself is eager to join bigger club.
Arsenal have the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere in their squad but Wenger wants to sign another player in order to avoid the repetition of last year when the club lost many of its stars due to long term injury.
Meanwhile, Arsenal is also interested in bringing another world class defender in this transfer window and Greek defender Manolas is the first target of Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has stressed that he has no hard feelings over former stalwart Cesc Fabregasai??i??s move to Chelsea.
“I have no regrets that Fabregas [joined Chelsea],” Wenger told reporters.
“My only regret is that he left us in the first place.”
Fabregas moved to Chelsea earlier this summer in a deal worth 45 million of euros.
