Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is eager to sign at least one defensive midfielder in January and he has planned a A?9.5m move for Spartak Moscow starlet Romulo.
Arsenal are long in the market for top quality defensive midfielder and they are being linked with a move for Real Madridai??i??s Sami Khedira. But it now appears that Romulo has become the first favorite of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. However, Arsenal is not the only club who is interested in Romulo. La Liga club Valencia is also keeping tabs on the situation of the player.
Meanwhile, reports coming from England have also confirmed the interest of Arsenal in the Spartak Moscow youngster. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger currently has the likes of Mathieu Flamini, Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey at his disposal but considering their record of injuries, he wants to sign another central midfielder.
Arsenal are also being linked with Sami Khedira since past few months but Arsene Wenger is not fully convinced with his fitness yet and he thinks that Romulo is a better option. Romulo is a regular starter for Spartak Moscow nowadays and any move in the region of 10-12 million pounds would be enough to lure the player away from his current employers.
Another option would be to make a swap deal with Spartak Moscow by including Yaya Sanogo. Sanogo is struggling to get regular playing time at Arsenal and it is being reported that Arsene Wenger is ready to offer Sanogo to Spartak Moscow on loan.
However, in spite of his world class talent, the biggest concern for Arsene Wenger regarding Romulo would be his injury record. Romulo has started only 18 games for Spartak Moscow since his move in 2012 as he has spent majority of his time at the club on the dressing table because of a knee injury.
