Former Arsenal striker feels the Gunners would be middle-table club without Alexis Sanchez.
Ian Wright has questioned his former club Arsenalai??i??s chances of securing a top-four finish at the end of the season. The former Gunner said that despite the presence of summer signing Alexis Sanchez, he cannot see Arsenal getting in the top-four at the moment.
“If it wasn’t for Sanchez, where would they be now?” said Wright.
“They are mid-table without Alexis Sanchez.
I can’t see Arsenal getting in the top four at the moment,” said Wright.
Arsene Wenger managed a transfer coup when he signed the Chilean from Barcelona for A?35 million in the summer transfer window. Sanchez came to the club on the back of several impressive performances for Barcelona last season and a very good World Cup for Chile in which the country exited the tournament in the round of 16 after losing to hosts Brazil on penalties.
Since joining Arsenal, Sanchez has been on an impressive run of form and has scored 12 goals in 19 games so far this season. But despite Sanchezai??i??s performances, Arsenal have had a bad run of games having lost three of their last seven league games ai??i?? winning just two and drawing two. This has been the Gunners worst start to a season in 32 years.
The recent performances of Arsenal have led to a lot of speculation regarding Arsene Wengerai??i??s future at the club. The pressure on the manager has increased considerably with some fans booing his side after the home defeat against Manchester United on Saturday.
When Wright was questioned whether if the 65-year-old Frenchman should go, Wright said: “It’s very frustrating. It’s getting to that time now.”
Saturdayai??i??s defeat took Arsenal to the 8th position in the Premier League table, two points behind the fourth place which is occupied by Manchester United.
Arsenal have been going through a tough phase with injury problems adding to their woes. The injury problems have exposed the lack of depth present in the squad and have led to Wenger receiving a lot of flak about his transfer policies.
Arsenlai??i??s major shareholder Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov also spoke about Arsene Wenger describing him as “one of the greatest coaches” but also accepted that there is a problem. However, the Russian has revealed he has no say on deciding Wenger’s future.

“He can make mistakes and I know as you age it is more difficult, more challenging to accept one’s mistakes. Maybe it is a problem today.”
