Arsenal FC manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that finishing in the top four is vital for him personally.
Arsenal face West Ham United at home later tonight and Arsene Wengerai??i??s men will be under pressure to return to winning ways in the league after securing a massive win over Wigan Athletic at the weekend to book their place in the final of the FA Cup. The Gunners have slipped out of the title race after encountering a poor run of form and performances against title rivals and have now been toppled by Everton in the race for the fourth spot in the league as well. Arsene Wenger has insisted that finishing in the top-four is vital for him and has hoped that his sideai??i??s experience and passion for this competition can propel to finish the season strongly.
“Itai??i??s vital to me to do it [qualify for the Champions League]. I want this club to play in the top level competition. For that you want to be in the Champions League.
“What will be an advantage is our desire to play in this competition because we love the Champions League and just to imagine how much we love it will help us to achieve it.
“I would like them rather to concentrate on the pleasure to be in it [than worry about not qualifying].
“We had a difficult schedule and today the rate of the negative results and negative aspects of the results in the big games is massive.
“To deal with that is very difficult. When you have a succession of big games one after the other, if you lose the first one you are always in trouble.” ai??i?? The Arsenal manager said.
Wenger has urged his side to produce consistency at this stage of the season and has insisted on concentrating on their performances irrespective of what Everton does.
“It’s down to consistency and we have just to focus on our results and see where we finish. Ai??”The quality of our performances, the quality of our spirit and our focus [makes me think we can finish in the top four].
“Experience counts of course. But the difference will be the quality that you produce on the pitch and that is down to desire, to be faithful to our game we want to play, and get everybody back in our squad.
