Arsenal FC manager Arsene Wenger and agent of Porto midfielder Juan Quintero has rebuffed reports of negotiations for the transfer of the Colombian international.
Recent reports in Colombian media suggested that Arsenal are close to signing Colombian attacking midfielder Juan Quintero from Porto, but both Arsene Wenger and his agent Ricardo Calleri has rubbished these claims.
The 21-year-old was signed by Porto from Italian club Pescara last summer and his widely rated as one of the best young South American talents at the moment. Quintero made 22 appearances for Porto last season, mostly as a substitute, and showed glimpses of his tremendous potential.
The former Envigado midfielder has a similar playing style to James Rodriguez and he made three appearances for Colombia in the recently concluded World Cup.Ai?? Quintero scored the winning goal against Ivory Coast after replacing Victor Ibarbo in the second half.
The youngster has drawn a lot of attention from a host of European clubs, who are monitoring his development at Porto. But reports in Colombian media last night suggested that Arsenal are close to signing Quintero for a fee of A?15.8 million and he was expected to arrive at London to complete the formalities.

But his agent, Ricardo Calleri, has played down these reports. He revealed that that a lot of clubs are interested in signing him, but Porto havenai??i??t been in negotiation with any of them. Calleri also insisted that if a club wants to sign him then they will have to pay his buy-out clause, which is reported to be A?31.7 million.
“Porto have never talked about negotiating the sale of Juan Quintero.
“Of course, there are clubs interested. There is a lot of interest from clubs from Spain and England in the player.
“But in order for him to leave, a club has to pay his buy-out clause.” ai??i?? Calleri said in an interview.
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has also rubbished these reports. When asked whether the Gunners are close signing Quintero from Porto, Wenger said: “That is wrong”.
